The MIPAAF Decree of the 16 November 2017 introduced the labeling requirements for:

• tomato derivatives (preserves, concentrate, passata, dried tomatoes, flaked tomatoes, tomato powder, semi-dry tomatoes)
• tomato-based sauces and sauces.

For these products the following information should be pointed out on the label:

• “paese di coltivazione del pomodoro”: nome del paese in cui il pomodoro è stato coltivato.
• “paese di trasformazione del pomodoro”: nome del paese in cui il pomodoro è stato trasformato.
• Nel caso in cui il prodotto sia coltivato e trasformato nello stesso paese è possibile usare la dicitura: “origine del pomodoro”: nome del paese.

In the case that the operation have took place in more European Union Countries it is possible to use the indication “UE”, non UE” e “UE e non UE”.

The MIPAAF Decree of the 16 November 2017 is in force from the 13 May 2018 till the 31 December 2020. If the products where place or labeled before the entering into force of the Decree, they can still be sold until the end of the reserve.
